Rosa's Priorities

Support the Adults Who Support our Kids

As a lifelong educator, I understand how important it is to have the resources I need so that I can give my students the best possible education. If we want the students in our schools to receive a high quality education, we must provide the adults working in New Rochelle schools with the support they need to be their best. This includes providing ongoing, relevant and high-quality professional learning and opportunities for growth so that they can give our children their very best.

Work to Achieve Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Safety, and Justice

When our most marginalized children, including Black, Latinx, English Language Learners (emergent bilinguals), and students with disabilities, are provided full access to inclusive educational settings that are rich with opportunities to grow, ALL students are better off. I am unapologetically committed to the principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, safety, and justice, because these are essential for all students to succeed. As a member of the Board of Education, I will work to combat racism, homophobia, antisemitism, islamophobia, ableism and any other forms of discrimination or prejudice in our schools. Students must be cared for and feel safe in order to learn and reach their fullest potential.

Partner with Families and Caregivers to Create Student Success

In my work preparing future school and district leaders, I stress the importance of building relationships with families and caregivers because they know their own children best. We must continue to find ways to partner with parents, caregivers and community members to ensure that we can better understand and meet the needs of all students in the district.
